(Jimmy Anthony - Dearl Croft - Peggy White) He's her strong and stable rock in times of trouble Her arms reach out to hold him ev'ry night She just can't let him go Lord knows she's tried it And she knows that what she's doin' just ain't right. She sleeps with him each night and then each mornin' She talks with him about the comin' day Then she gently lifts the corner of the pillow Tucks him in and sadly turns away. He's just a photograph she keeps beneath the pillow With his leavin' life has dealt her so much pain Now her dreams are bent and all her hopes are shattered Like the glass that's missing from his picture frame. She tried to take his empty hangers from the closet She's tried hard to force her mind just to forget She tried once more to throw away the roses He once gave her but she just can't do it yet. So tonight behind her bedroom door she'll wonder If tomorrow she can face another day Then her hand would find its way beneath the pillow And her fingertips will gently touch his face. He's just a photograph she keeps beneath the pillow With his leavin' life has dealt her so much pain Now her dreams are bent and all her hopes are shattered Like the glass that's missing from his picture frame. He's just a photograph she keeps beneath the pillow... |
