Late last night while you lay sleeping
The moon came up and you never heard a sound
It hung around just like a lover sneakin'
And spilled a hundred silver stars to the ground

And it called my name
And it called me to it
And the night did sing
And I ran into it

Now the moon did shine just like a gypsy's jewel
And the wind did moan just like a lover's sigh
And darkness clung just like a stolen kiss
And the ground rose up to meet the sky

And it called my name
And it called me to it
And the night did sing
And you never knew it

Tonight I'll throw away my pillow
Tonight I'll throw away this blanket
Tonight I'll throw the window wide open
Tomorrow you will thank me

And you'll call my name
And we'll lay down to it
And the moon will shine
Like a gypsy's jewel
