In a Honda
On the 5 to LA
With the New Year
Just some hours away

I turn to my left and try
To capture your smile
As headlights are dancing round
Just like fireflies

In a soft tone
You are starting to sing
To a record
That you told me to bring

We listen to awkward rhymes
For mile after mile
The world's flying by outside
As a flash of light

A flash of light, a flash of light
From all the cars and exit-signs
The cars and exit-signs
A flash of light, a flash of light
When our shadows collide
Scatter all around

In a Motel
On a bed, as we rest,
You examine
Every hair on my chest

You ask me to turn around
And not close my eyes
My muscles betray me now
When I try to find

A flash of light, a flash of light
A tiny motion in your eyes
A motion in your eyes
A flash of light, a flash of light
When our shadows break out
Crash into the night

A flash of light, a flash of light
An open crack in every cloud
A crack in every cloud
I'm paralyzed, I'm paralyzed
When our shadows unite
Stretched before our eyes
