The house fire left me with only moments
For a dash to collect a few personal items
Somehow without thinking I grabbed those photographs
Where we visited upstate New York
in September in front of a beautiful sun rise

But we left that happiness a few years ago
Since you my hearts not been won
In fact I am cruel to myself so often
Wonder if me and you ever did too soon end it

You see I think deep inside we didn't
Give enough time, give enough devotion
Things could have been different

In your arms I always felt so safe
In your heart I always felt so loved
In your life I always felt so alive
We could have, we should have endure.

I finally see that we didn't go wrong
We just needed to adjust and fine tune
But when you have two people stubborn and strong
Then things go away yet I know I really miss you

We can still endure because I still see you haven't moved on
And if that house fire hadn't have happened
I wouldn't have know if you caring was all pretending
But I felt it so strong
In this time we have endured
Maybe a little separation did us good
We can always endure
