Ivy is growing outside the church, the steeple and the cross
Cobwebs are growing inside the church the people and the cross

Ivy is green and young and growing
Churches are white and old and cobwebbing
But without the church thereâ??d be no ivy
and the ivy is needed inside the church

Windy day, windy day
dream the best of your life away
Dream of an autumn day, dream on the first of May
Blow away, windy day
Ivy is green and young
and its leaves are vain

Windy day, windy day
Let my dreams scatter where they may
Ooh, ooh, blow away, windy day
Churches are white and old
Let my thoughts all stray
until a soft October day

Windy day, windy day.
