I remember when you told me
All the joys in life
In simple things and pleasure
They would bring
When in troubled times

And I remember then
You told me to wait patiently
I'd be rushing in much too hastily
Not knowing where to begin
But wanting it all there and then

These are the best days of our lives
These are the best days of our lives

I remember when you said
"The finest pearl came from a grain of sand
Expect to work for it and don't grow up too soon
Such a precious jewel, only a fool would be rushing in"

These are the best days of our lives
These are the best days of our lives
